A bold declaration of pride, unity, and authenticity.

Our stories deserve to be told by us, for us, and for the world to see. In a world that often overlooks or misrepresents African cultures, this platform stands as a bold declaration of pride, unity, and authenticity.

United by a shared mission to celebrate, preserve, and elevate our heritage. Our platform serves as a digital home for the diverse voices, histories, and cultures that make up the African diaspora.

With pride in our roots and eyes on the future, we are building a space that empowers, educates, and inspires

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to celebrate and amplify the beauty, depth, and richness of African cultures and traditions. We aim to be a source of pride for people of African descent and a resource for anyone eager to learn more about Africa’s influence, creativity, and resilience.

Our Vision

We envision a world where African identity is celebrated globally and embraced locally. A world where future generations understand their roots, appreciate their culture, and feel connected to a legacy that stretches across centuries and continents.

What We Do

Through storytelling, art, fashion, music, food, language, and history, we create content that reflects the heart of African culture. We host events, curate digital exhibitions, support artists and creatives, and offer educational resources that highlight the beauty and strength of African heritage.

How It All Started

On October 2022, the vision for an African Centre in Ontario was presented by Mr. Michael Emeka Dibua, to an assembly of like-minded individuals of African descent. Subsequently, on February 18, 2023, an interim board of Directors, chaired by Michael Emeka Dibua, supported by Theodore Koum Njoh, as vice chair, Efuange Khumbah as Secretary General, Laura Awosanya as Financial Director, Ikenna Aniekwe as Assistant Secretary General and Sylvanus Fonguh, as Public Relations Director, was elected, with a remit to navigate the affairs of the Corporation for 18 months, and to bring the vision of the African Heritage centre into fruition.

The interim board is supported by heads of committees and an advisory committee to be inaugurated.

The African Heritage Centre was incorporated as a Not for Profit in Canada on February 22, 2023.
